History & significance
The Madai Vadukunda Shiva temple is a Hindu temple located in Madai .It is believed to have been constructed by "Kolathiri" Kings during Middle Ages on a plateau land generally known now as "Madai Para". This is located 22 km (14 mi) north of Kannur, the Headquarters Town. The "Kolathiri" Kingdom is an inherent branch of the erstwhile "Mooshaka" Dynasty, which ruled the "Ezhimala" empire during the 5th to 8th Century.
